Today we will learn how to crochet the heart stitch. A beautiful and puffy stitch that we will use to crochet a pillow. You can also use it to crochet blankets or even bags!

Abbreviations:
- Ch = Chain
- SC = Single crochet
- 2DCtog = 2 Double crochets together
- 3DCtog = 3 Double crochets together
- DC = Double crochet
- Rep = Repeat
- Sl st = Slip stitch
- St = Stitch
Hook Size(s): 4mm
Special Stiches:
Heart Stitch: 3 double crochets together, chain 2, 3 double crochets together
Pattern:
Foundation Row: start with 34 ch (multiples of 6 and a minimum of 12 ch plus 4 for turning).
Row 1 (color A): Make 1 DC in the fifth ch from the hook and 1 DC in each st across. At the end of the row, attach the second color for the hearts. (30)
Row 2 (color B): Ch 2 and turn. Make 2DCtog in the first st. Rep *Ch 3, skip 5 st, and (3DCtog, ch 2, 3 DCtog) in the sixth st* all across. After the last heart, ch 3, and 3DCtog in the top of the ch 4. Switch back to the main color.
Row 3 (color A): Ch 1 and turn. (1 SC, ch 1) in the first st. Rep *in row 1, skip 1 st, and make 3 SC in the remaining 3 st. (Ch 1, 1 SC, ch 1) in the ch sp of the heart*. To end the row, make 1 SC in the last st.
Row 4 (color A): Ch 2 and turn. Make 1 DC in each st across, including in each ch sp.
Row 5 (change colors or stick to color A): Ch 2 and turn. Make 1 DC in each st across. Switch to the color for the hearts. (31)
Row 6 (color B): Ch 2 and turn. Make 2DCtog in the first st. Rep *Ch 3, skip 5 st, and (3DCtog, ch 2, 3 DCtog) in the sixth st* all across. After the last heart, ch 3, and 3DCtog in the top of the ch 4. Switch back to the main color.
Row 7 (color A): Ch 1 and turn. (1 SC, ch 1) in the first st. Rep *in row 1, skip 1 st, and make 3 SC in the remaining 3 st. (Ch 1, 1 SC, ch 1) in the ch sp of the heart*. To end the row, make 1 SC in the last st.
Row 8 (color A): Ch 2 and turn. Make 1 DC in each st across, including in each ch sp.
Rows 9-onward: Rep rows 1-4 until you reach the size you want.
For a cushion, make two panels of the same size. Stitch them together with a round of 1 SC all around. For the corners, make 3 SC to turn. Before stitching together the last sides, insert your filling. Sl st to join.
